Notice that i have given a single star to this restaurant. I grew up in India. This is not even close to what indian food is. The only good thing in my opinion that this place has got going is the pricing in the Upper East Side. Spend your money elsewhere if you are like indian food.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I had an awful experience after an order placed on seamlessweb.com. First, the delivery boy came after 45 minutes (the estimated delivery time was 25-30 minutes!!!) and he began by saying that he spilled over some of the sauce because one of the bags fell on his way over. The disappointment was even bigger when I saw the dishes, that were actually smaller than expected: each entree was supposed to come with rice, dahl, cabbage and onion. I ordered 2 entrees, but the promised side dishes were ridiculously small and almost insignificant: the dahl came in a soup container and consisted in a couple of spoons of watery stuff with no lentils whatsoever and no taste. The chicken tikka masala had 4 pieces almost invisible in the abundant and tasteless sauce. I had specifically asked for lamb koti kabab and I received the beef; useless to say that it had no flavor and was completely dry. To complete this disastrous picture, the papadum I ordered consisted in 1 (one) papadum piece cut in half, which I think is the worst possible way you would want to spend an extra dollar. I ordered indian food many times before, but this particular experience Ieft me with the impression of being the victim of a really bad joke.

The rice was perfect. The appetizers were a mix of great and just okay. The chicken madras was spicier than I remembered but still great!

I received my order outside the estimated delivery time. Food was average to below average. The garlic naan was not cooked through. According to the menu the samoosa appetiser is made with ground beef, however when I received my order they were vegetable samoosas.

Really not impressed with this meal. Made me wish I could get certain restaurants off my list so I could not eat there again by mistake. Had a very weak poori, a soggy vindaloo, and funky samosa. Nothing was good.

Lukewarm food at delivery. Drinks ordered spilled all over and soaked everything, no utensils included. Food okay, but clearly place is not ready for delivery.

Great food, excellent service - friendly, fast delivery...and they have yet to mess up our order (and we've ordered from them about 30 times). We love it!

i ordered the chicken tikka muslam and it tasted like they had put old kebabs in pre-made sauce. it was a monday at 6pm, so i thought i'm not sure why they had leftover kebabs sitting around, unless business is usually slow. anyway, it tasted like it would have been very good if the meat didn't taste old. one very positive note though, their breads are very very good. the crust of the samosa and the accompaniment to the shrimp appertizer were both truly outstanding.

We have been going here about once every two weeks for the last year. The food is amazing and very reasonably priced. If you want something flavorful yet not too spicey then check out the "Chicken-Tika Muslam" (basically the same as a "Chicken-Tika Masala"). The Beef Vindaloo is also very good here if you prefer a spicier option although it is not as spicey as its England counterpart. Shamrat also does an amazing lunch special where you get a starter, main course, dessert and coffee for about $6 or $7. It just can't be beat for value. This is definitely my wife and I's favorite restaurant in the upper east side!

Awful, awful, awful. I'd ordered the Tandori Chicken. The chicken was hacked up in such a way that there were bone splinters throughout. The rice was dried out and actually crunchy in parts. The dal was so watered down it tasted like dishwater, as did the other accompanying sauces. I was surprised. I've been there to eat and the food was pretty good. I will never, ever order from them again.
