Salaam Bombay offers Indian cuisine prepared with the purest of spices. In fact, the menu has been celebrated for its wide representation of the regional cuisine of India.
Nestled in the hip, cultural hub of Lower Manhattan, this oasis of lilting Sitar music and rich earth-toned décor at Salaam Bombay restaurant is as much a part of TriBeCa as the cash-churning, glass-granite skyscrapers that seemingly reach for the skies.

As the name connotes, Salaam Bombay is a salute to the city of Bombay, a city where varied cultures and cuisines blend to a splendid perfection and harmony. Much like New York is a mix of cultures, Salaam Bombay a melting pot of Indian cuisine, the heady spices, flavored curries and melt-in-your-mouth Indian breads from the nooks and corners of the exotic sub continent.
Savor your meal in the casually dining room decorated like an Indian ceremonial hall, under a colorful canopy of traditional Indian mirror work fabric. Or claim a table by the window overlooking the trendy TriBeCa neighborhood. Well spaced tables are attended to by impeccably trained staff knowledgeable in all aspects of food, wine and service. Feign nonchalance when you find a famous celebrity at the table next to yours, for Salaam Bombay has its fair share of celebrity regulars. On warm sunny days, soak in the sun at our outdoor seating while sipping a tall glass of cold refreshing lassi – the Indian summer drink made of frothy yogurt lightly flavored with mint and ginger.

It's the 3rd time we ordered from this place and it's usually good. But tonight, the chicken was terrible!

My food was expected to arrive at 1pm and got it at 1:45pm. Everytime I called the restaurant, they would put me on hold and I would have to call again. After getting someone on the phone, I was told it'll be there "any minute". I understand that sometimes things happen, but the restaurant should have the courtsey to call and say that they are delayed.

The best indian food in the area hands down. I haven't written a review here before, but the food here was delicious. I never thought I could get a good Masala Dosa outside of India, but the theirs is superb. It's traditional food and new age styles, fresh ingredients, and easy on the wallet. Trust me, if you want good Indian food, this is the place.

Food was decent, but the delivery timing was unacceptable. It took 1 hour 40 minutes to receive our order when a 25mn-35mn estimate was given.

Ordered the other day. The CTM was awesome...not a light dish, but very tasty. I ordered a diet coke and they delivered a regular coke...kinda annoying. But the food was great overall.

Very very oily -- its dripping with oil,, I bought chicken briyani and the order was delivered promptly and packed neatly . But the fud was oily and the chicken pieces were boneless chicken cut into huge pieces but when cut open it looks pink and then u doubt if they cooked it enough.. I would prefer the chicken to be tender and falling apart stage when in briyani. Even though the fud was extremely oily and the chicken bland the only plus point was that the rice was seasoned and had flavor , But with that much oil I doubt that the flavor was worth consuming this much oil, and I consumed majority of it cuz unfortunately I was hungry,, now if i have an heart attack today i blame salaam bombay for it :)

The chicken tikka massala is delicious. The service was prompt even in the rain and the food was fresh. I wasn't disappointed. I will definitely order from here again.

Long wait for delivery, average Indian food--nothing special. Probably would not order from here again.

have ordered roughly 6 times. food is okay, two times delivery has been late, with the most extreme being 95 mins for a delivery time published of 30-50 mins (so the food arrives cold)

Really great dishes. Flavors are big at this one - reallly vibarnt and bold. Tasty. Reccomended dishes always change, so be sure to ask! Try new things at this one. Nice place.

SOO many in the city! WOW! But these are good for Greenwich area - they are affiliated with Yuva uptwon, its the owner's son who started that one. But Salaam is good. You can get delivery from here which is nice if you work or live in the area. Pretty much all dishes are probably standardly good. They have a really good buffet for lunch - this one is really good. And you can typically get in for dinner which is nice if you're really hungry and dont want to wait forever for a table. It's a good place. They have a good Indian chef working for them.
I love this restaurant, the food is exceptionally authentic and the atmosphere is relaxing. True value for money. (& very reasonable) The indian food is turely authentic and Vegetarian dishes are so delicious. The private room downstairs is beautiful and can accomidate up to aprox 200 people. Its the best indian in downtown NYC.
AWESOME chicken korma
