Tucked away on Avenue A, Damask Falafel is a Middle Eastern restaurant that strays from the ordinary. The tiny little storefront in the East Village offers delicious and fresh dishes daily to an appreciative neighborhood.

Its deceptively low-key storefront hides the amazing cooking going on inside. Chose from a variety of Middle Eastern classics such as the famous falafel, a gyro, or baklava. Prices are extremely competitive and the quality is outstanding. For an amazing falafel for a bargain, look no further than Damask Falafel. Eat falafel, live longer.

TERRIBLE and inconsiderate!!!!!!!!!!!! I waited one hour and 10 minutes for the food, and called them 3 times. I was told the delivery man was "on his way" each time. I gave up after an hour and 15 minutes, called them for the fourth time and requested that they cancel my order.

It's been almost an hour and still nothing. I called and they told me something unintelligible. Can't recommend and don't even know what the quality of the food is...

The food was unbelievably greasy, overspiced, and overcooked. The (merguez) sausages were almost unrecognizable and the chicken shwarma was served on the most gluteinous bed of rice I have ever seen. I ordered a can of diet soda with my order, and it was so thoroughly caked with grease that I was unable to drink it. I was only able to take three bites of my entree. I'm using the rest to shellac some wood furniture.

Just edible. I don't know where the good reviews came from. Its definitely the mid eastern equivalent to those dirty pizza joints you see everywhere in this city. Its not even that cheap! If you just need something to fill your stomach and aren't that picky on the taste then this could be for you. As for me, there's too many better places to order from in this city.

Interesting choices by the chef. Delicious grape leaves; so-so falafel, lots of raw onion EVERYWHERE ...

Best middle eastern take out in the east village

A falafel mainstay in the east village for years, always good for certain items. Very personable staff, and always making people feel welcome. Not my first choice for Shwarma, one of my mid-eastern faves, but for everything else, spot on.
