These multi-regional Chinese restaurants are owned and operated by Dorothea and Felix Wu, along with their son Albert, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. While New York City is home to many Chinese restaurants, China Fun is different from the competition in several important ways.
One of the biggest differences is the food. Whereas most Chinese restaurants have one chef who oversees the kitchen, China Fun has four, each of whom specializes in a different part of the menu. One chef is in charge of Cantonese BBQ dishes, another in charge of Cantonese dim sum specialties, a third, Northern dim sum offerings and a fourth, wok-cooked dishes. Recently, they added a fifth toque to their team, a sushi chef in order to accommodate those who crave Japanese options. What’s more, China Fun insists upon using the best ingredients and not taking short cuts. They use live Maine lobsters and prepare all baked goods and barbecued items in-house (unlike most Chinese restaurants, which purchase them from third parties in Chinatown). They even smoke their own meat (in traditional Chinese smokers) at each branch.
Finally, the staff, from hostesses to delivery men, is courteous and attentive, and they treat patrons as individuals, not order numbers. China Fun greatly values their customers, and it shows.

Roast Pork over Noodle Soup—Comes with your choice of noodles
Pineapple Chicken—Sliced white meat with pineapple and bell pepper
Filet Mignon Chinese Style—Sliced steak wok-tossed with onions in a sweet tomato-based sauce
Shredded Pork—Sautéed with dry bean curd and winter bamboo shoots in spicy bean paste sauce
Steamed Whole Sea Bass or Red Snapper—In ginger and scallion sauce or spicy bean paste sauce
Vegetable Deluxe—Consists of three kinds of vegetables prepared three different ways; Chinese eggplant in garlic sauce, string beans in white sauce and fresh mushrooms in curry sauce
Chinese food was good the pork dumplings were probably the best thing I ordered, Japanese "tempura" wasn't done correctly (looks like it was dipped in some other type of batter, sure as heck wasn't tempura, was more like the McDonald's version). Probably safe as long as you're on the Chinese menu items and play to their strengths.

Food is good, but twice it was over an hour for delivery and had to call in

Service is fast, but something is off with China Fun's food. The last few times I've ordered from here (whether I ordered on-line or in-house, it just doesn't taste great. The appetizer satay sauce had no peanut taste, but rather, tasted like some mustardy indian sauce - yuck. There was NOTHING "jumbo" about the "fried jumbo shrimp with sesame seeds" - small, dried-out shrimp with some odd-tasting substance ("fake" chicken?) wrapped around it before it was battered and fried. General Tso's chicken was not spicy at all. Might as well order from any smaller, random Chinese place at this point - at least others offer dinner specials. Sad, as China Fun used to be reliably terrific.

Best Chinese in the UES. Highly recommend the Curry Chicken - probably the best I have ever had.

Dependable. Delicious. The only chinese we order from in the neighborhood.

Awful Chinese food. Greasy and significantly less than authentic. I'd never order from here again.

Too expensive for the portions and qulaity you are getting. $22.00 for General Tsao's Chicken, Brown rice and an Egg roll?? I am convinced the portions are getting smaller.

Delivery guy was super nice and the food is extremely hot and tasty. Excellent lunch special ; plenty of food.

Just ordered for here for a 2nd time. Food doesn't have much flavor my container has a 1/4 inch of oils on top of the sauce. Greasy and not much flavor. I don't see why it costs more than the rest of the Chinese in the area.

THE FOOD WAS COLD AND TOOK OVER 90 MINUTES TO DELIVER. IT WILL BE A LONG TIME BEFORE I ORDER FROM THERE AGAIN.

Dim sum was decent/authentic, but the portions are a rip off. One roast pork bun and a tiny lotus leaf.

rather bland and not very interesting food

Food is definitely decent, albeit a bit expensive. I'm a fan of the scallion pancakes and the beef & broccoli. The delivery is usually well within the estimated time-frame too. My main complaint was that they forgot the utensils the last time I ordered! I was ordering from a hospital waiting room, so I was pretty stuck without forks or chopsticks. It might be worth including a note in the special instructions if you want them to bring you utensils.

Food was very bland. No flavor whatsoever to the General Tso Chicken or Sesame Chicken. Soup was fine and the appetizer was good, but I will not order from there again. Not as Fun as I thought.

Food is terrible. My Hot and Sour soup tasted like pepper water with no other flavor. General Tso's chicken is bland. DON'T ORDER FROM HERE!

awesome general tsos tofu

Delivery was much quicker than expected--wait time said 45-60 min., but we had our food in about 20. General Tsao's tofu was good, though not very Tsao-y. Veggie soup with tofu was great--lots of taste but not too salty. We opted for the lower fat chicken w/ cashew option (sauce on the side, etc.), but they forgot our sauce. Other than that food was good for the price.

most bland chinese food ever. ordered the peach chicken, orange chicken and sweet and sour chicken and the the only taste was burnt peppers from the sweet and sour sauce. couldn't tell the difference between the peach and the orange chicken - both were bad...

Quick delivery. Good food, great value!

The food is great... but they totally overdue the silverware. 4 rolls + soup and salad = 4 plates, 6 forks, 5 spoons and 9 pairs of chopsticks?! It's like one for each bite!

I used order a lot from this restaurant and the food is pretty decent - I may give them 4 stars; however, I had a bad experience for deliverly (ordered passed 12pm, got confirmation from the restaurant around 12:30, waited more than 50 min from the confirmaion passed their Open Hour, then they didn't deliver, give me a call, nor answer the phone...). So, I will put 2 stars for the sake of people who order food late because of their life style. If you order stuff, you may want to order early - say... before 10PM or something.

The orange chicken is incredible, but the lemon chicken was inedible.

Whenever I find myself stuck in the UES and get a hankering for some good Chinese food I head over to China Fun. It's not as cheap as the stuff you get in Chinatown, but it's almost as good. I would especially recommend the Scallion Pancakes and the Lunch Specials.
