Walk down Ninth Avenue in Manhattan’s exploding Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, and you won’t have a problem finding suitable dining. There’s everything from Chinese to Thai, Italian to Mexican, and of course, American fare. But what about a casual French brasserie? Where’s the bistro?

Seeing the gap in the restaurant scene, experienced chef and restaurateur Ciro Colantonio (Le Refuge, Metisse) has opened an authentic French restaurant, Brasserie 52. Offering traditional French cuisine in a modern, European bistro setting, Brasserie 52 is new refreshing neighborhood destination.
The menu at Brasserie 52 includes classic French dishes. During the day, Brasserie 52’s a la carte menu ranges from lighter items, such as Salade De Mezuna with watermelon radish, horseradish wasabi vinaigrette, citrus segments, and brie cheese; to richer dishes, like Beef Bourguignon with red wine reduction over risotto. Daily specials, as well as a ten dollar lunch special that comes with coffee or tea, are also available. Over the weekend, customers can enjoy a savory brunch with specialty items. Brasserie 52 guests can enjoy their favorite cocktails from the full bar with a mostly French wine list of approximately 35 bottles, available by the glass and bottle.
The ambience at Brasserie 52 captures the essence of Europe, combining fresh and modern elements with familiar French touches. Brasserie 52’s warm and convivial setting include a beautiful stone tiled floor, exposed brick and light yellow-striped walls, burgundy chairs and banquets with multi-colored backboards, and dark wood tables.

I GAVE THIS PLACE ONE STAR BECAUSE I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW NO GIVE IT NO STARS. THE MEAT WAS DRY AND TASTELESS. I THINK IT MUST HAVE BEEN COOKED MUCH EARLIER IN THE DAY AND JUST WARMED UP. THE RICE PUDDING WAS MORE LIKE SWEET RICE SOUP AND A VERY SMALL SERVING WAS $5.00!

I am not even finished with my Croque Monsieur yet, and feel compelled to put it down so that I may tell everyone about this resturant's exquisite food. A sandwich and fries are not be terribly difficult to make, but they are very diffcult to perfect. Brasserie 52 has got it down pat. No fancy sauces or crazy concoctions exist to distact the diner from what is most important: simple, fresh, well-harmonied ingredients. If a true French bistro is what you are seeking, you would be cheating yourself not to consider this gem.

Food was horrible and looked like slop. Delivery was an hour after the estimated time.

Extremely uneven food. Excellent pate, but one of the worst coq-au-vin versions I've ever tasted!
